Do I really need a video card? Why or not?

I'm prepare to change a computer, my pc is integrated graphics. Now I'm considering getting a video card.

Mainly watching video, sometimes playing 2D games and Photoshop. Now I feel confuse that some people say an integrated graphics is enough to manage these action and others say a video card is very necessary because integrated card will cumber system performance.

Which is more reliable? I feel so cunfused.|||An integrated is fine for all of the tasks you're asking about, but all integrated cards "borrow" some system memory. Most cards I'm familiar with don't use more than 128MB, which isn't much if you have 4GB of RAM.

A dedicated video card (which uses its own memory) helps if you want to edit movies or convert video formats, play 3D games, use certain Photoshop functions that take advantage of the card's GPU, or simply to get back the memory that would normally be used by the integrated card.

So in your case, you might only notice the difference in unlikely situations.|||Well your PC integrated card is ok for doing basic stuff . It all works on memory my built in card has only 128 MB but my add on card has 512MB so just like ram the more ram you have the better the card will work .

Plus pure speed your built in card is slow a add on card is way faster . If you look at the box your games come with it will list how many MB your video card must be for the game to work right .

Also with a new video card you will see a better picture because it will have better Shader Pipes and so on .|||You can get by with integrated graphics if you just do those things as long as your computer is somewhat new. And if you feel you need a new video card, get a cheap one because it is all you will need.|||An integrated card should be fine, but a dedicated card would definitely help you in Photoshop.|||Integrated graphics should be just fine for the task you do.
