How important is DX10 vs DX9 in choosing a video card?

Running Vista (32bit).

Please educate me on the differences and importance since it seems some of the DX9 cards currently outperform DX10 capable cards and are cheaper.|||It all comes down to the program/game you want to play. Games eventually will not support DX9. Some of the new games support both, but you get better graphics with DX10.

However, it's important to review the cards before you get them. Just because a card supports DX10 doesn't mean it's better than a DX9 card at DX9 games. Keep in mind though than Dx9 card won't be able to play DX10 games when they start coming out.|||Dx10 card work best with direct X 10 software.

Newer games are also going soon only working on Dx10

Take Windows Vista for example.

Vista is new , slows the computer down compared to Xp and more expensive. but windows is trying to set all its newer software on Vista. so soon everyone will be on vista.

Dx9 cards are becoming outdated as proven in Bioshock and soon to be released Crysis.

My advice wait.

Dx10 card will soon progress beyond the Dx9 cards and become cheaper depending on how long you wait.

Good Luck
