Pc video card. please help this poor old computer illiterate man?

i have an Emachines T5082 3.0 processor with 1 gig ram. i just bought a new lcd display. this one is a Gateway HD1900 19 inch Widescreen LCD Monitor. Now i know i'm not getting a digital signal to the monitor. i need to know what is the best way to go about getting the right video card and if it will slow my computer down if i do get a new video card.|||Hello,

Your in luck, your computer inst THAT bad so you can still put in a new video card. I looked at the specs and you have a PCI-E x16 port in there which is the good news.

That link up there is a list of all PCI-E x16 cards. You want anything that's above a Ge force 8600 or a Radeon 4200

Installation is cake, just pop it open, take out the old card, and slide in the new one! Literally that easy. Then, you just boot up and install the drivers (usually comes with a CD or you can go to the website of the video card and download the drivers there)

I hope this has helped, you may also want to reference this:

See ya!|||Getting a new video card would only speed your computer.

there's literally thousands of video cards reviews and many online retailers have the best selling cards on sale and on the first page.
